VoxType Desktop is an AI voice-dictation app for Windows. You speak, and VoxType turns it into polished text in whatever app you're using. This policy explains exactly what we handle and how. TL;DR: your voice and text are processed and immediately discarded — and when you choose on-device mode, nothing ever leaves your computer.

• We never store what you dictate – Your transcribed text is delivered to your active app and not retained on our servers
• We don't keep recordings – Audio is processed in real time and discarded immediately
• We don't sell your data – Ever. We make money from subscriptions, not from your information
• We don't show ads – Your experience is completely ad-free
• We don't train AI on your content – Your voice and text are never used to train any AI models

Cloud Mode: When you use cloud speech recognition, your audio is sent over an encrypted TLS connection, transcribed in real time, and immediately discarded. No recordings are written to disk or kept on any server.

On-Device Mode (Pro): Download local speech-recognition models and your audio is transcribed entirely on your own computer using your CPU or GPU. Your voice never leaves the machine — 100% offline, zero network transmission.

Cloud Mode: When you use AI features (grammar fixes, tone adjustment, polishing, formatting), your text is sent for processing, the result is returned, and the original text is immediately discarded. Nothing is logged, stored, or used for training.

On-Device Mode (Pro): With downloaded local AI models, enhancement runs entirely on your computer. Nothing leaves your device — the most private option for sensitive work.

To run your account and the app, we store only the minimum:

• Account data – Email, subscription status, and usage counts (voice minutes, AI enhancements)
• Preferences – Hotkeys, AI modes, language settings, and custom dictionary terms you add
• Dictation history (local) – Your past dictations are stored locally on your computer so you can browse, search, and re-use them; you can clear this anytime

This is never shared with or sold to third parties.

Pro users can optionally sync corrections, custom vocabulary, and preferences across their VoxType apps (desktop, Chrome, Android). Sync data is encrypted, entirely optional, and can be disabled or deleted at any time.

• TLS encryption – All cloud requests use encrypted connections
• No persistent storage – Voice and text data is never written to our servers
• On-device option – Process everything locally with zero transmission
• No third-party sharing – We never share your data with advertisers or data brokers

We collect anonymous, aggregated data to improve the app:

• Crash reports – To fix bugs and improve stability
• Feature usage – Anonymized counts of which features are used
• Performance metrics – Speed, memory usage, response times

Critical: Analytics never include the content of what you say or type. You can opt out entirely in the app settings.

• Delete your account – Request full deletion of your account data at any time
• Export your data – Request a copy of the account information we store
• Use on-device mode – Keep everything local with zero data transmission
• Opt out of analytics – Disable anonymous usage statistics in settings
• Disable sync – Keep all your data strictly on your computer

For users in the EU (GDPR) and California (CCPA), the same rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability apply. We do not sell personal information. Email us to exercise any right and we'll respond within 30 days.

• Speech recognition & AI providers – Used in cloud mode under agreements that prohibit training on your data
• Firebase – For authentication and crash reporting
• Stripe – For payment processing (we never see your full card number)

We share only the minimum needed to provide the service, and never your voice or text content.

• Voice/Text data – Discarded immediately after processing (milliseconds)
• Dictation history – Stored locally on your computer; delete it anytime from the app
• Account data – Retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of a deletion request
